A gluten test is a laboratory analysis used to detect the presence of gluten in raw materials or finished products. This test is essential for food producers to ensure gluten-free claims meet regulatory standards while protecting consumers with sensitivities or medical conditions such as celiac disease.
A product may only carry this label if it truly meets the standards. BPOM and the international Codex standard set a gluten threshold of ≤ 20 mg/kg as the safe limit for products to claim “Gluten-Free.”
